What can you tell me about the practice of Cherem? I have determined that there is no room in my life for the Jewish faith or community, and am seeking Cherem to wipe the slate clean.
This is the process of which I speak. Any information you can provide regarding how to achieve this would be welcome.

I'm not sure if I am directing this question to the right place, but I was listening to Rabbi Kraft's most recent lecture on the Talmudic references to Germania. I wanted to point out that Germania was the name given to the territory of the Gothic and Teutonic nations by Julius Caesar in the 1st century BCE. This is likely what is referred to as Germania shel Edom. Further, the reason that Rebbe Yitzchak said this thing about Germania lashing out and taking over the entire world because they were barbaric and extremely powerful, were they not kept in check by Rome. I can certainly appreciate Rabbi Kraft's analysis, but I'm afraid that it may not quite be true that here the Gemara is referring to Nazi Germany. Could someone perhaps remove this doubt from my mind?
